我们大家一起来时事，一起说说楼房做”俯卧撑”这个令人瞠目的事情吧。

I want to talk about an apartment that was still under construction when it was crushed on 26th June.
It happened in the early morning, when everyone was still deep in sleep.  Suddenly the whole of Shanghai shook like an earthquake had just hit the area.  I was lying in bed unconscious, thinking that I must still be dreaming.  Later on I was shocked to hear that a 13-floor apartment had collapsed in Min Hang district.  Lucky, not many people got hurt.  It was reported in the news a few days later that the building had collapsed because its foundations were too shallow and the rain had made the land sink, resulting in the building being unbalanced and so falling over.  I was absolutely incredulous when I heard this report.  However, it’s true to say that lots of buildings have problems because of the poor quality of the materials used in their construction – this is some construction companies’ way of making larger profits.  I was really annoyed to see that this had happened – imagine if the building had been full of people; they would have lost their lives just to make someone else money.  I wish business men would be more conscientious, rather than caring only about money.
