Scott: Jane really isn’t interested in me.  I thought she was really into me the first time we dated, but now every time I invite her out she says she is busy, or has to spend time with her family, or has too much work to do…

Jacky: I think she really is into you. Everyone says she is. I reckon she is playing hard to get. She wants to test how much effort you are ready to make for her. You’ve gotta chase her a bit more!

playing hard to get 是指故意装出难以接近的样子，其实是想鼓励对方做进一步追求，也可译为“欲擒故纵”。Jane用的正是这个方法。她想看看Scott是否真的在乎自己。而Jacky看破了她的伎俩，于是鼓励Scott更加努力地去追。
