『IELTS TIPS』

• “Personal anecdotes” are mini-stories or details that give extra flavor and color to your answers. This is an important character of English Logic，it makes your answer alive.

举例： “Yes, I do. I really like parks a lot because there are lots of trees. My brother and I often go walking in the local park in my hometown on a Sunday afternoon when the weather is good.”

• Always state WHY you both have the opinion and disagree with the opposite opinion.

举例：“I think global warming is the largest problem facing the world. While some people would claim that global warming is part of the natural cycle of the earth and not caused by humans, I think you only need to look at all the pollutants in the Beijing air to realize that humans are definitely affecting the environment!”

• Choose more specific adjective to enrich your English—be descriptive

举例：1) “My hometown is very unique and warm.” 2) “Going home makes me feel warm and nostalgic.” 3) “I like physics, because it is a fascinating subject.”

• Listen carefully to the examiner`s questions, don’t assume what he is saying. Many questions are very similar in IELTS, but a small part of the question is different. To get the highest score possible you need to demonstrate that you understand ALL parts of the questions.
• When making a “generalizing statement” give a CONTRASTING EXAMPLE, Contrasting examples shows you have a higher language skill and understanding of the question, and they are simple to do. 当做一个归纳性的陈述时，可以给出一个与之对比及对应的例子

举例：“I prefer writing emails to text messages; HOWEVER, text messages are convenient for communicating short pieces of information and arranging to meet friends.”

• Some people believe that, all police officers should carry a gun. While, others disagree with this idea, and argue that it is intimidating to see armed police officers on the streets. From my view, the advantages of police officers carrying guns have overweighed the disadvantages. Because the police need to be able to protect both themselves and the general public.

揭晓答案：

‘In my view’ OR ‘From my point of view’ (not “From my view”)

‘the advantages of police officers carrying guns OUTWEIGH the disadvantages’ (“outweigh” NOT “have overweighed”)
