第一个问题： Do you think it is fair for a driver to go to prison for life if they kill somebody while driving recklessly?

I believe that it’s a bit harsh to make a driver go to prison for life for killing somebody.  I guess it depends on how ‘recklessly’ the driver was driving.  Most drivers will understand the desire to ‘put the pedal to the medal’ and speed around the streets – such scenes are portrayed often enough in movies and TV shows as cool and exciting.  I also think that the traffic department and police should bear some responsibility for such accidents, because they don’t enforce the highway code strictly enough – if they did, there would be far less accidents on our roads.  If the driver was driving in the same way as other drivers do all the time, then i think that the driver should be punished, but not go to prison for so long – maybe one or two years or be banned from driving.  But if the driver was being extremely reckless and not caring about anybody else, then i think that they should go to prison for a very long time.

As i just said, i don’t think the traffic department and police do enough to keep our roads safe.  I often see drivers doing quite dangerous things right in front of the police, but they don’t say anything.  I think they should enforce the traffic regulations very strictly, in that way our roads would gradually get safer and safer.  I also think that the government should make more effort to educate people about the results of reckless driving – perhaps such information could be incorporated within the driving test.  The government could also enact more serious and more varied punishments for drivers who break the law, such as taking their driving licence away, taking their car or giving them a huge fine.
